thanks alan. the natural swamp pools are still pretty full when the tide rolls in. the rectangular man made pond can dry up and go away permanently, for all i care. it's a breeding ground for mosquitos since the water is pretty stagnant. there's a few beavers in it, but most of them are in the naturally created waterways.I like your creature feature - both shots are very nice portraits of these critters.
Bummer about the dry spell. I far and away prefer having a lot of water around.
Beautiful images pepper, thanks for sharing.how is it november and the bugs are still out and biting? there's a drought on, the retention pond is down to a mere puddle, so the beavers were pretty easy to find.

thanks larry & jim. i had to jump from one side of the state to the other and had a little time to burn. so i took the scenic coastal route and stopped into the refuge on my way. i'm hoping to have more time at the refuge come january.Wow! Top class images! I like them both, very sharp and well detailed.
Very nice! Exceptional animal portraits.how is it november and the bugs are still out and biting? there's a drought on, the retention pond is down to a mere puddle, so the beavers were pretty easy to find.
