I like your creature feature - both shots are very nice portraits of these critters.

Bummer about the dry spell. I far and away prefer having a lot of water around.

thanks alan. the natural swamp pools are still pretty full when the tide rolls in. the rectangular man made pond can dry up and go away permanently, for all i care. it's a breeding ground for mosquitos since the water is pretty stagnant. there's a few beavers in it, but most of them are in the naturally created waterways.

thanks larry & jim. i had to jump from one side of the state to the other and had a little time to burn. so i took the scenic coastal route and stopped into the refuge on my way. i'm hoping to have more time at the refuge come january.
