Winds

Happily the Wind River mountains don't appear to be windy at all for these shots. I live the low clouds and wildflowers in the second image.

Great shots! I love the clouds and B&W treatment in the first, the second is calendar material. Thanks for the memories - I used to go climbing in the winds for at least a week every summer when I lived in SLC, but haven't been back in many years.

Oh wow Monica! Truly amazing scenes in both. Not just the elements but the light also.

I am at my daughters in Greeley and the wind is sure howling! I was up at Dream Lake shooting yesterday and in places that wind could knock you over. I got some cool color, and plan to head back over there in an hour to shoot tonights sunset also.

It's windy enough that you can choose which peaks are wanted in shadow & which ones in light, and if you just wait, it'll probably happen!

For the 2nd one, I hadn't planned on a sunrise shot, but I poked my head out of the tent, saw the low clouds, grabbed my gear & headed out. I was just back from a tiring Iceland trip, which is why I wasn't planning on sunrise shoots & my husband was just back from a climbing trip to Baffin Island, so he was pretty exhausted, too.

Will you still be out for the lunar eclipse? If it was going to be clear, I was going to head up to Vedauwu, but it looks like it'll be snowing up there (not surprised)

Thanks, Jim. My husband has climbed there every summer for decades, also. He missed last summer as he was on Baffin Island instead (& this coming summer, too), so it's my "job" to go up & represent us. Sigh. Tough job, but somebody's got to do it!;)
Unfortunately, there are a lot of people going who don't know how to be in wilderness in there these days: theft from tents at Big Sandy, streamers & wads of toilet paper & trash left just off the trail, lots of yelling & screaming by the lakes, etc.

Beautiful work on both images Monica. I've never been there, but certainly hope to. Your displays just bumped that desire up another notch.

With the wind howling last night & a few topics with "Wind" in the title, I thought I'd upload some shots from the Wind Rivers.

The first is from a few years ago when my husband & I went to the Deep Lake area, the 2nd is Squaretop.

Beautiful work here, Monica. That dewy meadow with Square Top in the distance is outstanding. Congratulations on your well deserved Daily Featured Post.

Yeah, it started snowing on me tonight as I was hiking back out from Dream Lake. So I wouldn't be surprised with the snow. I am heading back to California tomorrow (Monday) morning otherwise it would be fun to shoot it out here. I may end up shooting the eclipse at the beach. Not sure what the temp currently is in SoCal, but it's got to be warmer then the mid 20's I have had to deal with in the Rockies.
