Winged Wednesday 12/2/2020

My contribution for today's winged Wednesday are Wood Duck photos. If not the pretties duck in Arizona, it is certainly the most colorful. There are 5 pair at Bubbling Ponds, Page Spring Fish Hatchery, Yavapai County, Arizona. I am surprised at the courtship behavior this week. After 30 minutes of silent waiting, they came very close, paying more attention to each other than the photographer 15 feet away.

I'm not certain if he's displaying or doing calisthenics. There wasn't a Wood Duck hen nearby; perhaps he's practicing for the big day.
