Driving down along the I-25 in Colorado heading to New Mexico there was a huge storm with lots of lightning strikes developing off to the west. As I was driving I was watching the terrain to the west and when I found a cool area, I exited the freeway and just started driving the backroads heading towards the storm and looking for good compositions.
I found one and pulled off the side of the road. I was out shooting in the field, I had set up and was just shooting continuously to try and capture some lightning. As the storm rolled closer it started to rain, so I actually backed up to my jeep, and lifted up the tail gate and set up under it. Both to keep the rain off the lens, and then to keep me from being a lightning rod in the middle of the field.
Anyway, I got a few lightning strikes, but this was the coolest, and was a single shot. I probably have less then a dozen lightning captures, but this by far is my coolest.
