Yellow headed black bird

Hey Ben,

That is so cool. I like the colors on this bird. Here in SoCal the birds are so boring. Seagulls for the most part and if we see anything else its a dull looking bird. One thing I enjoy when traveling is to finally get to see some birds with some color to them.

Thanks Jim, I do miss them now. The hard part of bird photography is learning where to find them and the best season.

If a bird flies around where I am shooting my landscapes, I will shoot it with the best lens that I have with me. They are cool for that bit, but to just go and shoot birds for hours and hours on end? That's not for me.

But like I said, I love looking at them for a bit.

Yes, I used to stand at the side of Lake Coeur d'Alene during eagle season for hours with a few other guys, just like mesa Arch, but 4 degrees.
Going to a wetlands for these small birds was faster and more fun. Listening to their songs and being out in the morning was a nice experience.

Very nice Ben!

Like red wing blackbirds. I miss those out here. When I go over the border to Colorado I can find them, but it takes searching. When I'm in Illinois they are everywhere.

Thanks Craig. We have them around here, but the settings are not very photogenic. Red and yellow. I can drive up to Brigham City to the Bear River refuge and get lots of birds, but there is no camping around there.
