You Disturbed My Sleep

Here's the black fox one early spring morning several years ago. She was probably in her prime then. I'd been hoping to catch her as she snoozed among the wildflowers, but she got up as she heard me slow down in the FJ.

Steve, I'd found out that 2 of the neighbors were feeding her. I was initially really disappointed, but then I realized that she would probably stay around because of that. She liked to be entertained, I found, so I would try different sounds, talk to her, move in what could be construed as interesting ways to an animal so she'd watch me & not just wander off. The vixen screams I'd recorded & put on my phone didn't work, though. I got so that I could maneuver her a little (front or backlight her, but not to the point of getting her to jump up on a rock or tree stump) -- just a little.
