Young Pinedrops

This was one of the few times I've found these baby pine drops. When I searched the database, there was a picture of others a bit taller that were guessed to have been above the pine floor for no more than a week.

Pterosperma andromedea is a member of the heath family.

They're very primordial looking.

I have never seen these even though I have looked for them in the proper habitat.

Thanks, Douglas. I probably found them because I wasn't looking for them........ I had been exploring a side trail and was cutting back to the main trail through an area that had actually been quite well manicured by the FS & these were in the middle of a clearing.
