Zabriske terrain

Zeph's recent post from here called to mind a couple I got from Zabriske Point on my first visit in Dec '13.
Looking southerly the rocky terrain and erosion patterns, textures, and especially the range of colors really captured my attention, almost more than Manley Beacon!
Late afternoon, mostly in the shadow of the mountain.
c&c welcome.

Very nice Barry!

Interesting how that looks so much like the Cainville area. Same stuff I wonder?

Hey Barry, the shadows you got in this add to the depth, nice work despite no clouds.

The desert is fascinating place because of the variety of people's perceptions, most only see a terrain that has been baked to a crisp and is devoid of nature, the challenge for us is prove this perception misguided by finding meaning and beautiful images.
Barry, these are great, with the closeup (2nd) holding my interest the longest with the fine detail and closed composition, love the contours and less bright contrasty tone.

Barry, I like these images, sky of not. That magical texture is brought out by the light you had and you made some great choices here.

Thanks, Craig! I'm not familiar with Cainville, but I'd imagine those erosion patterns are pretty common. What's amazing is the range of colors in DV, and not just here.

Many thanks, Jim!

Thanks so much, Zeph! This shows one of the reasons I love the desert terrain, not only in DV but all over the Southwest. Thanks for your kind remarks!

Fine work, Barry! I think I'd like to see #1 in mono.:)

Thanks, Jeff! May have to give b&w a try with it.:)

Thanks, Ben. Yeah, despite the sky at least the hillside was mostly in shad so it gave me a lot to work with. Glad you enjoyed these.

Death Valley is one of my favorite places and Zabriskie Point is one of the best locations to work. Good job with the light you had to work with, Barry.
