Thanks Alan I am glad you liked it. Yeah I am pretty sure that as Doug said the light is from Palm Springs. Generally speaking we don’t like the light pollution at night, but in cases like this where there can be some clouds it actually is kind of cool I think.Interesting lighting for the scene. Looks very nice for my eyes. I am guessing the moon is behind you for the shadows and light on the cacti. The orange glow - city lights? Adds a nice effect even if it is light pollution.
Thank so much Ben!!!This is one of my favorites of your Joshua Tree shots.
You know what? That is when it was. That was fun times!HA! This was the time you and I went there...my only trip to JT! It was my first time shooting night photos
Thank you Amy.Excellent photo, Jim! I like it for the same reasons. And I love how the stars are shining sharply through that thin layer of fog...love that effect. Quite dreamy. How did you get so much fill light on the tree and ground?
Agreed! The clouds add that soft look too, especially in this photo. It's like a half-transparent veil over the stars.Thank you Amy.
it’s been a while since I shot this one, but I am pretty sure I just used a headlamp to light this up. I am glad you like this. Some people don’t want to shoot at night when there are clouds, but I have always liked the look and feel and mystery that clouds can add at night, even if the hide some of the stars.
That’s a great way to put it Amy!Agreed! The clouds add that soft look too, especially in this photo. It's like a half-transparent veil over the stars.
Beautiful image. This is from a few years ago from Joshua Tree National Park in California. It’s an archive shot that I tweaked a bit, so hopefully it looks good as my edits have to be quick.
