    C/2025 A6 (Lemmon)

I have not had much of a chance to image C/2025 A6 (Lemmon), what with clouds and its position in the evening sky from my location. I have managed 2 sessions now, one with my main rig (the Esprit 100ED and ASI2600MC) and one with my wide field set up using the Samyang (Rokinon) 132mm lens. The...

Helix nebula with the Seestar S50

Thanks Jim, and yes I think you did ask me on my Andromeda image. No worries, I stick with 10s as I tend to see star elongation at 20 or 30s even in EQ mode, even though polar alignment is more or less spot on.

    Comet C/2025 A6 (Lemmon)

Nice one Jim. Tried to capture it with my Seestar S50 the other night but too many pesky clouds. Nice detail in the tail.

Helix nebula with the Seestar S50

Taken using the Seestar S50 over 5 nights Light frames; 2856 × 10s, stacked in Pixinsight I am pleased how this has turned out, particularly some of the detail radiating towards the centre of the nebula. Could these be part of the cometary knots? Probably wishful thinking on my part.

    M31 with the Seestar S50

Hi Jim, tbh I have not really looked into the differences with longer exposures, although I would say that with the few I have done at 20 or 30s, the stars tend to look a bit elongated, even though I'm in EQ mode. Also as you say, with 10s on a mosaic you get more or all of the mosaic frame...

    NGC 7293 - Helix Nebula

Excellent Jim! Loving the detail of this. I have just finished imaging this with the Seestar S50, I have not put it through its paces in Pixinsight yet, it'll be interesting to see how it turns out. Again, great work.

    Shark Attack!

    That's very nice indeed.

    M31 with the Seestar S50

The Andromeda Galaxy I usually image our amazing galactic neighbour at this time of the year. This time I used my little smart scope (you can carry it around under one arm!). Its such a great little scope to use, hardly any setting up needed, you just tell it what you want to look at and it just...

    IC 5146 - Cocoon Nebula

Great stuff! EQ mode is a game changer for that already amazing little scope. I need to get mine out again :)

WR134 in Narrowband with RGB Stars

Great work as usual. Astrobin does it proud.

    First wide field image

Thanks Mike. The lens is pretty amazing really, just need to accept it will have limitations, particularly when seeing conditions are not ideal.

    First wide field image

Ahhh...good luck. I will be looking forward to seeing your results! I know what you mean about trying to decide what gear to use, the answer could be a second mount I guess (I wish!). Clear skies.

    Cloud sculpting in Vulpecula

This is a narrowband (SHO) image of NGC 6823 in the constellation of Vulpecula. The designation NGC 6823 refers to the open star cluster towards the centre right of the image, adjacent to the long pillar of nebulosity which appears to be pointing towards it. NGC 6823 is also known as the "Cloud...

    First wide field image

Ahhhh....Antares, I wish. Its just low for me and a really short imaging window. I will have to give it a try (next year) maybe.

    First wide field image

Thanks Jim. Yes I am using my set up at F4, any lower and the stars were wrecked. For this image I used the Askar DuoBand Ha/OIII, and shot the stars in RGB. I did have to ditch a lot of my frames, those taken when the seeing wasn't too great (i.e. light cloud, moonlight). The frames for this...

    First wide field image

My project this Summer was to build a widefield rig around the Samyang (Rokinon) 135 F2 camera lens. I used the Astrodynium ring system as the supporting structure, which works great as it is specifically designed for this lens. I have paired the lens with my ASI2600MC OSC camera, added the ZWO...

NGC 6857 and a 'Clipped' Tulip

Another interesting area of sky you have there Mike. Loving all what's going on here. The image on Astrobin really does it justice.

    The Helping Hand

LDN1355, the ’Helping Hand’ Nebula in Cassiopeia, together with neighbouring LDN1357 and LDN1358 are areas of dark nebulosity in he constellation of Cassiopeia. Below of the “palm” of the helping hand is a blue reflective nebula (VdB 9) which is illuminated by the star SU Cas. Towards middle...
