here are some more Macaws - they are about 1/2 size of the Red and Green or Hyacinth - but they have beautiful feathers and with morning light they really show off

one of my target birds while in Brazil the Hyacinth Macaw and Red and green Macaw - we managed to see them in a tree where they had nest holes - they mate for life and enjoy each others company - and such beautiful colors - very endangered too

there are so many different types of parrots, big and small in the Brazilian wild lands

all the Brazil shots are in the wild - we rode out board boats all along the rivers to spot birds, and cats and otters -

while watching the Jaguars mossy around we talked to a biologist from Houston who studies them in this area - they have created a book with photos and describe how to identify different individuals from the their face markings - I will be looking carefully at my photos trying to ID some of them...

the big male took forever to turn and look in our direction - the female had such a cute little one

they are all wild - you move around in boats looking for Jaguars and whatever else is available -- while we were ripping around in the boat a bunch of small fish jumped in and one was a small piranha we threw them all back

here are some birds - skimmers fighting over fish, Cocoi heron with a piranha, toucans, and black hooded parrots

Giant River Otters - they about 2-3 times bigger than the lake and river otters in North America - and have the interesting white patches on their throats - but they play and fish much the same - a lot of fun to watch

the colorful ones are Red & Green Macaw's - the funny looking bird is a King Vulture
