Paradise creek valley curves below the distant mountains. We were on our way back to Paradise after a day of back-country skiing on the Cowlitz Glacier.
My partner Eric and I explored some steep chutes off the Muir Snowfield last week. We were dismayed to find the lower part melted out into a steep waterfall that forced us to climb up and over to another gully that went to the Nisqually Glacier. We had this part of the mountain to ourselves and...
I got out for a good day of skiing yesterday. Couldn't find a partner (much to my wife's dismay), but this is one of my favorite local routes, so wasn't worried and took care. I also have an emergency locator beacon for a last resort. I only brought my iPhone and snapped a couple of landscapes...
They have lifted the rules here in WA to allow dispersed camping and hiking on most forest service land. We loaded up our new truck-camper (which has been sitting idle in our carport for months) and drove over Hwy 20 with two friends for 3 wonderful days of hiking and skiing.

We've had a few days of rain followed by clearer days with thunderstorms in the evening. Always an exciting time to go out just after the storm.
All comments welcome :)
Edit: Adding one more version of this scene below - I think the cooler temperature works better to bring out the...
Here's one of a few sunsets that I've captured of this range from different vantage points. I delayed posting this one because something is bothering me about it and I'm not sure what. Maybe the purplish hue in the fields or need for more contrast with the mountains, I'm not sure. What do you...
A couple pictures of some flowering trees in the village taken the other evening with the mountains as a backdrop. I'm glad I've had time to immortalize some of the things in bloom while they last, the season is moving quickly here. C&C welcome.

From the archives - a hike in the Chablais area that spans the French-Swiss border. September 2018. It was a bit of an overcast day so there were some interesting clouds to work with. C&C welcome.

Well, I could have come up with a more original title. But this is from American Basin last year in Colorado. Due to some landslides that wiped out the road we took to get in there, it was nice because it gave Alisa and I several days with no one else there since they couldn't get in. And when...
My wife and I stopped for a two nights in the Alabama Hills between Death Valley trips into Eureka Dunes (came back out and drove around to avoid the long rough road south) and the southern section.
I had a drone disaster the first morning, which I'll write up in a separate thread. Next time...
This is from last May on another hike in the Alps. This place has a pretty wild feeling when you get up in altitude and I tried to capture that in this photo. I liked the shadows that the clouds were making on the snow.

From a really cool little hike last Friday, this is looking south at the Aravis range which is running nearly in the same direction (north-south, angling west slightly). If this were a clear day the Mont Blanc range would have been visible in the background. The tall point is the Pointe Percée...
There is an issue with Uploading Photos (attachjments). I am not sure what the problem is, and I am looking into it. You can still try to Create your Threads and Upload your Photos, but it is hanging up during the Upload.
