Purple Gypsum

So many different ways to see the same scene. I was fortunate to be able to spend four days at this location, offering all kinds of sunrise and sunset opportunities. Ben and I were discussing how the gypsum minerals in the lower basin have a reflective quality and cause the floor to take on the hue of the sky. Usually that is blue or light brown. One morning, this unusual color appeared. This stuff doesn't last long. Be prepared.

Very nice, Jeffrey. It's always interesting to see how the right light makes that harsh landscape look soft.

Super cool Jeffrey! Love that light and color! I can’t wait to get to my shots from our meetup.

I’ve been crazy busy and have transferred and moved blah blah, no time for my art. I just glanced at the page tonight and I’m so glad I did. This is a stunner, really. I can just stare and pretend I’m sitting on that mesa watching the day begin. Wonderful.

Absolutely beautiful image, Jeffrey. I wish I had been able to meet you up there. BTW, that clay looks like suede.
