This is really nice Alan. One thing I really enjoyed about VoF when I used to explore it a lot was that there are so many stripes like this. That whole road heading out to White Domes is just lined with weird and strange formations and stripes of color. The Fire Wave has the big name, it is pretty cool, but there are a dozen other places very similar to it all along that road.

Yeah - and this is the road I revisit every time I wander back through VoF. There will be more macro/abstract images coming from those sessions.

Valley of Fire is the only place I know of in the US that comes close to the wacky striped sandstones of Petra in southern Jordan. I loved the geology of that place but my summers spent there were decades before the era of digital cameras with cheap storage.
