I captured this earlier in the week in Joshua Tree National Park, my favorite dark sky area and a nice short 2 hour drive when I am in California. I need to find a similar dark sky site close to Colorado that doesn't sit below freezing in the winter time.

iOptron GEM28 tracker
Nikon D850 - Not Modified
Tamron 150-600mm @400mm
35 - Lights @ 180 secs
34 - Flats Frames
41 - Bias Frames
10 - Darks Frames
Stacked in DeepSkyStacker
Processed in Photoshop

All comments are welcome,

Jim

Interesting to see this after seeing the ones Andy posted the other day. Nice work.
Deep Space Astro is a field of photography where gear really does make a difference. One can definitely capture Deep Space Astro with very minimal gear, very low end cameras and get decent results. But if you want jaw dropping results like what @Andy Nowlen has posted, the gear makes a huge difference. And you also have to add the processing also makes a huge difference.

I am taking it in baby steps. A dedicated Astro camera is in my target sights now. I think I know what I want, but I am still doing a lot of research and looking to make sure.

Serious deep space photography can require Deep Wallets(TM) too :)

This is such an impressive object - always fun to see another version of it. The FOV here is nice to get the entire object in and show the transitions in colors and brightness throughout.
