Spent a few days around Wash DC and visited the Marine Corp memorial depicting the flag raising.
While taking this late afternoon shot, I knew what I wanted as I saw it strongly backlit.
I had some specific Dogwood captures in mind.
When they didn't materialize, I captured them in a setting.
These are all around the Ahwahnee grounds.
Taken with the Mamiya 7, on both Ektar & Cinestill 50.
I had posted a shot from the same area but as digital.
This one is on film w/Ektar. Two shots stitched for a 6x9 format
I noticed that the film renders the reds & blues more saturated.
The reds being more noticeable. I had to bring down the red channel to get the scan to look more "real"
Not a...
Another takeaway from my Coyote valley trips.
I have posted another comp from here but this one has simpler/natural shadows.
Taken with the Mamiya 7 on Ektar & converted with Silver Efex
Still finding spreads of wildflowers. These are along one of the roads I cycle on.
Trying to find a comp that works with blue skies, no clouds & trees in the wrong places :(
The first one is with the film pano camera and is just flowers
The second one is with the Mamiya 7
This is a full disclosure. I took this with my film pano camera on Velvia. I'm happy with the colors & the comp. But it's noticeably soft :(. Focus on this plastic camera needs to be preset after calibration. With film loaded you can't check it. Thought I had it right but must have bump the...
I posted a DSLR B&W of this same location, but wanted to do some film at a longer focal length.
This was with my Mamiya RB67, 180mm (90 equiv), shot on Ektar
Being able to stop down 2 stops let me get the waves a bit smoother (no I didn't bring an ND..)
The film seem to render the reds a bit more.
Truth be told, I'm not motivated to drive all day to So. Cal & fight the internet fed crowds.
I'm tempted by some of the shots post here but instead keeping an eye on the local venues.
Local for me is the Bay Area south to Big sur.
The last one is at the end of road i cycle on. We seem to get...
Garrapata is my favorite place on the Big Sur Coast & these sea stacks are it's monuments.
I have visited & photographed these often, but always drawn there at the end of storm.
I came out there to shoot some film, but until it's developed, this would suffice.
There were bigger waves but I...
Lupine & Oaks that is. No poppies interspersed
A friend spotted this in Carmel Valley, so I had to visit
This was on grazing land, this is as close as I could get
This was spread across a few acres so I went with a pano/stitch for the 1st two
I got this last June & finally got confident enough to use it with some success.
This is a 3D printed 6x14cm pano camera using 120 film.
I posted in the film forum about the pieces if you are interested.
The guy now makes a 6x17 model & has continued to refine & improve it.
Film flatness is...
This shot is a reprise of an earlier visit. On this more recent visit Half Dome definitely lit up. Not much else in the sky to compliment it though. Wasn't sure at first but the reflection was the right compliment and a close look at the shadows & trees did too.
Taken with Mamiya 7 on Ektar, 50mm
From my favorite place for B&W & trees, Metcalf Rd in S. San Jose
I've been eying this location for a while, looking for the right place, time of day & weather.
This is a start. Taken with the Mamiya 7, on Ektar & converted to B&W with Silver Efex.
Normally I would have done this on TMAX but...
My recent trip to Yosemite started with clear blue skies one day, turning to gray the next.
Wishing I had brought the 4x5 gear & film, went with B&W conversions. Done w/Silfer Efex
Made my reservations when the forecast looked favorable, but that's how it rolls.
Three days in the park yielded, Sun-no clounds/Mostly Cloudy till noon/100% rain.
So you go with it. Did about 5mi of snow shoeing!
Here are a few

Went to Yosemite two weeks ago, hoping from the forecast for some weather drama.
What I got was some gray skies with an exception.
This first image is from a favorite spot to view Half Dome reflections.
This "color" happened just a few minutes before sunset with valley fog providing some...
While the trip to Yosemite had scarce landscape opportunities, we did get a demonstration of coyotes huning for voles
Sensory/Acoustic guided missile
Flying body-landing
Successful lunch acquisition
The next three are the typical form for vole hunting
This coyote scored 3 for 4...
