Soft morning light on the Emerald Coast

    Not sure what you mean.

    Dawn on the Jurassic Coast

Always looks fake, when layer masks are used. Or, maybe I should say I have never seen them used correctly.

    Dawn on the Jurassic Coast

Why are the reeds on the left getting so much light? Looks like a layer mask in PS. That never works.

    North Coast Light

There is no focal point. Without one, no photo is successful.

    Mesquite Dawn

Why is it BS to suggest changes?

    Yei Bi Chai-A different viewpoint

Hope you don't get angry, but the blacks are pushed too much. Does not look "real" to me.

    Dead Horse Point

I hope you are not getting angry at me, but once again I see PS layers. The whites are too bright. It is especially evident in the water, and that snow band on the bottom left. Other than that, a lovely photo.

Soft morning light on the Emerald Coast

Early in the morning in October, when this South facing beach gets sidelight.

Soft morning light on the Emerald Coast

Never have figured out why this happens, but every so often there is super pretty light.

Agree, and you are correct. This pic is just not how I think my eyes would have seen it. Midtones look too open.

    Another Sunburst

Hi Jim, I've looked, but see no halo in the reflection of the sun. What I see is what water looks like, when it is blasted with light. I'm interested in learning how to use Photoshop masks. Maybe I will get smart enough to do that someday. I'm using the Panasonic 4/3 camera, since you asked...

    Toroweap sunset

Only went there once. Decided it was impossible to shoot. Nothing compares to the experience. But I still think this is overly sharpened.

Perfect reflection at the Old Man of Storr, Isle of Skye

Look at the bottom left and tell me it is not blurry.

    Toroweap sunset

Nice, but overly sharpened. I don't think there is a way to take pictures like this without light on the Canyon.

    Another Sunburst

Next pic will be soft. But, in focus, of course. It is impossible for me to take or show a photo that has a technical flaw such as out of focus.

    Another Sunburst

Maybe I could shrapen the clouds. But, have you ever seen a sharp cloud? Clouds are soft, that is just how they look.

    Another Sunburst

Tried cropping the top half of the sky, but it loses its juice. I think it needs an opening up there.

    Another Sunburst

Jim, this looks all in focus to me.

    Another Sunburst

Him Jim, Might be better with closed shadows in the foreground. I will try that. Good suggestion. Nothing I could do about that halo around the sun. Not sure what you mean about the reflection.

And if a pic does not look "real", it loses its artistic sense. Just my opinion.
