    Winter Chill

From last month in Colorado. It was pretty cold out, and I had to camp in -1 to -6 degree weather a few times. But shots like this made it worth it. It had been snowing and the grass filled field everything was frozen with frost and ice on top of the snow. This is in color. :) All comments are...

    Snow Snoodle

My wife's dog Bella, is a Snoodle, half Giant Schnauzer and half Poodle. She loves playing ball in the snow. The snow gets embedded in that curly hair and she turns into a big "Snow Snoodle". I like the "full flaps" as she's running!

    Lake 22

Nice little winter hike to a nearby mountain lake. I've deleted the original video I posted after following Jim's advice. Here is the edit. Open full screen to view full HD. "

    Lake 22

I did a quick hike up to Lake 22 in the Cascades near my house yesterday. A well packed trail meant I didn't need snowshoes, but micro-spikes were very nice for the icy descent. I brought the drone and got a great view over the ridge and up to the summit of Mt. Pilchuck. Lake Outlet, Sony...

    Skiing Selfies

I've already posted a short video I shot of myself back-country skiing at Stevens Pass, WA. Here are a couple of frame grabs from the DJI Mavic 2 Pro.

    Hall Pk. NW face

X-skiing up The Mountain Loop was an icy snowmobile churned mess, so my wife and I headed home early. This gave me time to fly up and take a look-see at the NW face of Hall Pk.

    Gateway to the Stars

With the rare snowfall in Joshua Tree as described in my previous post I had found the clouds opening up and allowing the stars to shine through. This classic composition kind of felt like it was a gateway to the stars for me. While I never mind sharing a location with someone, it was pretty...

    Snow and Stars!

Snow in Joshua Tree National Park! :) Who would have thought? I know it does snow there every 5 or 6 years, but it's been well over 20 years I think since I have been out there in the snow. It was a fun and fast overnight trip. As I already posted, I ran up there in time to catch the sunset...

    Skiing Selfie!

I couldn't find a partner yesterday, and was sorry to worry my wife, but had to hit the blue-bird day with cold temps and recent bit of powder. Avy danger was low and I went to one of my old favorites that isn't far back. My first day using the drone to shoot skiing, which is one of the main...

    Abandon or is it?

I love the mood that this abandon shed nestled up to the big old pine and cottonwoods.I image it gives shelter to several little woodland creators.

    A Field of Snow

Driving back down from the Black Canyon of the Gunnison in Colorado there is an area that has lot's of ranches and farm lands. Even though the sunset and long past, these clouds started to glow with color. I liked the fence line and the field so I pulled over and got my tripod and gear back out...

    Angles On A Maple

We were blessed with a rare snowfall at my house last night. Unlike the rest of the country, where long term cold and ice take a toll, we revel in our few days of beauty. School is canceled, roads don't get plowed (we don't need em much here in the lowlands so we don't have a lot of plows), and...

Hall Pk. Attempt - Cascade Alpinism Defined

It seems like I may be one of the few climbers participating on this site, and likely the only NW alpinist. What follows is an insight into the hardest part of climbing many peaks of the North Cascades - the off trail approach through brushy complex terrain. Climbers in the Rockies and Sierras...

    Big Four & Hall Pk.

I could only see a sliver of Big Four from the road, but with a drone the views open up.

    Alien clouds in Black Canyon

Last Tuesday I went to the Black Canyon of the Gunnison in Colorado. My goal was to see if it was worth visiting in the winter time as I had only shot it in the summer and fall. In the winter you can only drive to the Visitor Center because they don't plow the roads beyond that. It was close to...

    Environmental Portrait

Susan is a nurse who works two 12 hour shifts in the city each week so she can live up in the mountains and pursue mountain sports the rest of the time. This was taken on a ski tour out of Stevens Pass, WA. I think she should pursue a bit of modeling of outdoor gear to get some swag.

    Near Stevens Pass

The snow wasn't great, but we got a good work-out, and some nice views when the clouds parted on a ski tour yesterday near Stevens Pass, WA.
