This was the last time of this event as the land, local politics & the money, has sealed its fate.
This was my 4th time as credentialed media with a great group of talented photographers.
As some of you may know, the event ended in tradgedy on the second to last race of the event.
On the cool...
I've been eyeing the mountains/foothills to the east for cloud layers, especially over Mt. Hamilton.
I should keep the camera in the car rather than running home for it!
From a couple of days ago when the skies had layers of clouds.
From a recent trip. I always like to take a shot or two on film.
While the reflection is not a mirror, I think it can be a counterpoise to the direct view. More abstract?
Runoff from Cascade Falls
Reflections in the meadow, near Swinging Bridge
Yosemite Falls, across the valley
Bridal Veil Falls, across the river
Nemeless ephemeral falls
Mirror Image across the meadow
From my kitchen pass trip.
While the trail to the falls remains closed, the water flow can still reach you.
The thundering falls generated copious clouds of mist that were illuminated
by the sun's beacon over the ridge.
Had to coax some detail out of falls
Wifes friend asked if I would go to Yosemite with her husband who had a heart attack in Jan.
Imagine that, a kitchen pass that didn't cost me anything!
The falls were roaring & there plenty of opportunies
Fern Spring was flowing nicely
Reflections on a flooded meadow, near Swinging Bridge...
This scene summarizes Table Mountain.
Wildflowers up top & the falls.
The only thing missing is a rainbow at the bottom.
That would have been later in the afternoon.
OK, it's not quite a natural landscape.
After hearing about that resevoir's upgrade to the spillway, I had to see it.
These are from the perimiter road.
I framed the 1st two to give it a more "natural" feel
I posted the digital shot earlier.
This was taken about 2 hours later on Portra 400 with my plastic 4x5 (shown),
which only weighs 2 1/2 Ib with a film holder.
This is probably twice what the light meter weighs 🤔
This makes it easy to shoot some film if I feel like it w/o a heavy backpack...
After seeing Josh's recent posts of Golden Gate & "the City" which are amazing,
I remembered a series of shots I took throughout a day over decade ago.
Baker Beach
Strong Towers
A path to the other side.
A beacon through the fog.
