    Watch the Hands

Thanks Alan. It was an amazing experience seeing the whole troupe moving in unison. It was like slow motion, synchronized swimming on land.

    Watch the Hands

This young lady is part of a dance troupe for grade school kids in Chiang Mai, Thailand. They perform at the mountaintop temple Wat Phra That Doi Sutep, in this image from 2008. Her digital dexterity far exceeds mine, if my hand were to be bent like that there would be broken bones!

    Several Cheetah Shots

All are very nice, but #4 is truly iconic!

    My Favorite Tree in Zion

Thanks Guys! It's always hit or miss with the clouds - this time hit. I think whenever the sky is prominent in an IR image, a channel swap will look good.

    My Favorite Tree in Zion

Every time I pass through Zion National Park, I have to stop for a visit at this little pinion pine. It's not very big, but it's shape and precarious position have endeared it to photographers. 665nm converted Nikon DSLR.

    The Tower of Power

Thanks Alan. The rocks are terrible reflectors of IR, but the black sky saves the day!

    The Tower of Power

Gotta love the variety of shapes Estrada Sandstone can assume. This gem is near Hanksville, Utah. 850nm Infrared image.

He seems to be very interested in you. Like he's deciding if it's worth the effort to charge.

    High and Dry

Thanks Alan. It's also not a good place to be when it's raining - water turns the playa into a quagmire and a stuck vehicle can be there for a while.

    Razorbills from the Farne islands

Great capture in that second image. Looks to me like he's just seconds away from a crash landing!

    High and Dry

Many people think of Oregon as cloudy, wet, and rainy, but the Eastern half of the state is just the opposite. This is the Alford Desert 's playa on a beautiful September day. The sky was full of nice puffy clouds, plus this one closest to the camera which decided it was time to break apart.

    Thursday’s Task

There have been a few times a tree caught my eye, here goes .. A pond near Cedar Breaks National Monument Infrared image of the Watchman in Zion National Park Looking up on the Stout Grove Trail in Jedediah Smith Redwoods State Park, California High contrast in the Hot Rain Forest...

    Waterfall Wednesday 8/5/2026

Several tiny waterfalls within the big one there, Alan. I like that I can see the trajectories of many individual drops of water as they splash off the rocks! This is White Horse Falls in Central Oregon. It's another place where there are many small cascades within the larger falls.

    Elephants at Sunset

Very telling silhouette! And the warm colors add to the feeling. Good advice to stay in the vehicle!

    Center of Nowhere

Thanks Guys! If you look at Nevada's Silver Peak Range on Google Maps Satellite view, you will see some wild colors!

    Center of Nowhere

In visible light, these hills are quite colorful, but here in Infrared, they are contrasty and you must guess the color. 850nm converted Nikon D600.

    Six-spotted Orbweaver.

The second image would make a great movie poster!

    Art Imitates Life

Thanks Jim - it's not a replacement for LLL, it's for when you want softer, more diffuse light (not direct). Thanks Peter!

    Gold and Water

Thanks Alan. It would be good to see you posting more photos in IR. It gets a bit lonely in this section. Thanks Jim. Here in Oregon, we occasionally have a false fall, by going directly from summer one day to winter the next.

Latourell Falls in the Columbia River Gorge is framed by the foliage along the trail. 590nm converted Nikon Z5, R-B channel swap.
