Shore Acres State Park ( Part 1 -the Ocean )

Thanks DES. F8 and be there. Thanks Alan. There are photographers out there who just don't use tripods. I think they are missing out, but it's their choice.

Shore Acres State Park ( Part 1 -the Ocean )

Along Oregon's southern coast, about 15 miles west of Coos Bay, Shore Acres State Park is bordered to the North and South by Sunset Bay and Cape Arago State Parks. This is perhaps the best place on Oregon's coast to watch winter storms smash into the sandstone cliffs sending spray high into the...

    The Shadow of the Mountain

Some really intense colors goin' on here. The side opposite the sun gets a cool "black triangle" shadow because of the mountain's pointy shape!

    Cottonwood Glory

Thanks Alan. The leaves go white in IR and look great if you can place dark canyon walls behind them. Every time I have tried to take the dirt road that goes beneath the western edge with shear cliffs, I have been turned back by sticky wet clay!

Thanks Alan. I probably wouldn't have even noticed it without the backlight!

My Second Favorite Tree in Zion

This tree usually blends into the background as you look across the canyon, but it really pops when backlit.

    My Favorite Tree in Zion

I visit this little guy every time I pass through Zion National park. He photographs well in visible color and Infrared. Probably the world's most photographed pinion pine tree.

    Animal Fights

Well no surprise that we all can't just get along. I thought maybe the zebras were beyond that kind of behavior! I like the first image best, it has a bit more intensity to it!

Twilight at Valley of the Gods

True that. There is no greater luxury than camping inches away from your shooting location!

Twilight at Valley of the Gods

Thanks Alan. It was a great place for dark skies. Better hurry though, if the projected number of future satellites is accurate!

Twilight at Valley of the Gods

I snagged a nice campsite at Valley of the Gods in Utah, the perfect base for a night of photography under the stars.

    High and Dry

Thanks Jim. You should drive the Steens Mountain Loop before it closes for winter. Nice view of the Alford Desert from a mile above, and probably great for astro, just cold. Thanks John. Clouds saved the day on this one. 😁

    Poppy inspiration.

The center of the flower seems to be exploding outward from ground zero. I can't wait to see the vessel you make from this!
