it was foggy at jökulsárlón. it wasn't the thick, blinding fog of vik, but it was thick enough that we couldn't see the glacier at the top of the bay. we could hear it though. it sounded like gunshots or cracks of thunder as large pieces of ice broke off of the glacier and floated away.
this is just a few minutes from the airport in keflavik. my flight arrived at 06:15 gmt so that meant i was actually up early enough to capture some decent light. rather than stumbling out of bed a few hours later.
i shot this church on my second day in iceland. the sky wasn't the best it could have been and i had to shoot in the opposite direction (out to sea) to get something close to the clouds i wanted. luckily this is within a few hours of the airport so i made time to stop by again at the end of...
everything had been rainy and foggy. it cleared just enough that i thought i'd check out vestrahorn. down on the peninsula it was perfectly sunny with just a few clouds in the sky. after shooting this i got back on the ring road to find that it was still pea soup.
this one needs to be edited properly when i get home to a real computer. taken tonight just outside of akureyri, iceland.

a few shots from last september. the park had been closed for close to a month due to wildfires, it reopened for about a week and then closed for the season for snow. it was more crowded than i'm used to and really smokey, but it was still fun.

an old abandoned port taken earlier this spring. this is one of those places where you don't travel alone. or in the summer when the flies are the size of crows. hopefully i can get back out there this fall.
i'm picking up my new fuji gf 23mm lens after work tonight. it's the last piece of kit i need for the trip to iceland next month. i'm taking the 23mm along with the 32-64mm and 100-200mm lenses.
one from virginia from a few years ago. i think it's an old tobacco shed, but not too sure. i could see it from the road, but where i ended up shooting had a tall fence up. ended up holding the camera up as high as it would go and shooting blindly. it took a few tries, but it worked.
it might be a weird anime/stormtrooper mashup, but it makes for an interesting set of action figures.
shot during tonight's power outage. 20 second exposure in the pitch dark (apart from a few lightning strikes outside). lighting was from the flashlight on my cell phone, used my hand to...
